Town Lake Animal Center Volunteer Service Coordinator, Town Lake Animal Center
Joanna has been with the Town Lake Animal Center, the municipal animal shelter for the City of Austin and Travis County, for 9 years, serving as the Volunteer Services Coordinator for the last 7 years. In April, 2007 Joanna received her certification as a Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA) from the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA). Additionally, she is currently serving as the Co-Chair of Congress of Volunteer Administrations Association (COVAA). Joanna is excited to explore all the possibilities for improving volunteerism and promoting volunteer management as a profession in Central Texas through DOVIA. joanna.johnson@ci.austin.tx.us

Alexis Thibodeau Dobson
Alliance For Life Director of Community Development, Texas Alliance for Life
Alexis Thibodeau Dobson is the Director of Community Development for Texas Alliance for Life. She has been coordinating the Volunteer Development and Event Planning, as well as Community Outreach, for the past 2 years. Prior to Texas Alliance for Life, she worked for 5 years in the non-profit religious sector also in Austin. Alexis has a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Texas A&M University, where she met her husband Ryan. They love living in Austin with their pup Charlie, and traveling around the world!

Volunteer Services Coordinator, Lance Armstrong Foundation
Lance Armstrong Foundation Amber moved to Austin in 2006, and is currently Volunteer Services Coordinator for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. She has previous experience as Camp & Program Director for the Arthritis Foundation, as well as volunteer experience with the American Cancer Society and American Red Cross. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Health Education at California State University, Northridge, where she served as Recruitment Chair for her Honor Society and was an active member of the Health Education Student Organization.

Member at Large: Lou Serna
Assistant Director of Campus Ministry, St. Edward's University
St. Edwards University Luis “Lou” Serna has been working as the Assistant Director of Campus Ministry at St. Edward's University since January 2003. As a Campus Minister, Lou journeys with students in issues and programs of faith, service and social justice. Lou coordinates service opportunities in the Austin community, Alternative Spring Breaks, and the international immersion experiences. Prior to working at St. Edward's, Lou lived in Colorado where he participated in the El Pomar Foundation Fellowship program, where he worked to support the nonprofit sector across the state.

Member at Large: Sue Whisenhunt
Volunteer Development Executive, Girl Scouts - Lone Star Council
Girl Scouts Lone Star Council Sue Whisenhunt is the Volunteer Development Executive for Girl Scouts - Lone Star Council, where over 14,000 girls grow strong. She coordinates the volunteer management system, training and recognition programs for over 9500 volunteers in 18 central Texas counties. Sue is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts, joining in 1965 as a Brownie Girl Scout and remaining active as a volunteer until her employment with Lone Star Council.

Member at Large: Christina Cooper
Director of Volunteers, Austin Children's Shelter
Austin Childrens Shelter Christina Cooper is currently the Director of Volunteer Services at the Austin Children's Shelter. She has been a part of the Shelter staff for 9 years. Previously she worked at a Residential Treatment Center for adjudicated teens as a Youth Counselor. She has been a member of DOVIA for 7 1/2 years and has loved being a part of the organization. This will be Christina's fifth year as a DOVIA board member.

Member at Large: Daniela Del Castillo
Recruiter, Lance Armstrong Foundation
Lance Armstrong Foundation Daniela has been a part of the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) since 2000. She began working in volunteer services and now is the recruiter for the foundation, working with hiring managers to recruit new employees for the organization. She also manages the internship program, oversees volunteer services and provides assistance to various human resources functions within the organization.

Daniela is almost a native Texan (having lived here since the age of 5) and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies. She has also just recently received a master’s degree from St. Edwards University in Human Services with a concentration in Human Resources.

Member at Large: Armando Rayo
Director, Hands On Central Texas
United Way Our mission is to connect people with high quality volunteer experiences. I have been working in the nonprofit sector for 6 years, first few years with 211 Texas, program formerly known as First Call for Help and now with the Volunteer Center, both services of United Way Capital Area. I love being involved in my community; reaching out to people, getting them connected and really getting down to meeting the needs of the community through volunteerism. I love the 80's and have been known to help the following organizations: DOVIA, Young Leader Society, Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, Texas Freedom Network, ProTex, Volunteer Healthcare Clinic and coming soon Teatro Humanidad.
